About AIWritingPal

Hand the pen to AI. The pen stays in your hand.

Blue Pencil Rewrite

AIWritingPal is a quiet editor for people who write. You write, and AI suggests edits in the margin, in blue. Nothing changes until you say yes.

Where we started

We used to build the other kind of tool.

AIWritingPal launched in 2023 as a template generator. You filled in a form, pressed a button and got a draft. People generated more than forty-one million words with it.

Counted as words generated with AI, 2023 to date.

The more of it we read, the surer we were of one thing: writing nobody wrestled with is writing nobody remembers. What makes a piece worth reading is the part the writer worked out for themselves.

So in 2026 we rewrote the product from scratch, around a single rule: you write, AI edits.

Why a blue pencil

Editors have always worked in blue.

For more than a century, editors marked up manuscripts with a blue pencil. Cut this, tighten that, move this paragraph up. They chose blue because it didn’t show up when pages were reproduced for print, so the marks shaped the piece without ever appearing in it.

The writer decided what stayed. That’s the job we gave our AI.

Then · Blue pencil, on paper

A typed manuscript line. “are very excited to be able to” is struck through in blue pencil and replaced above with “can’t wait to”. Margin note: tighter.

Now · Blue Pencil, in the editor

We are very excited to be able to can’t wait to share what we have been working on.

Blue Pencil · Improve 38% changed
  1. Struck words: nothing is deleted until you accept.
  2. Blue underline: what AI suggests adding.
  3. ⌘↵ accepts, Esc keeps yours. One accept, one undo.

What we believe

Six rules.
Every new feature has to pass them first.

Write first. AI when you call.

Open it and the cursor is already blinking. No wizard, no chat box, no sparkle asking if you need help.

Suggestions, not substitutions.

Every AI change arrives as markup on your draft. Accept it and it’s one step to undo. Reject it and your sentence stays exactly as you wrote it.

The smallest edit that works.

Blue Pencil keeps your sentences by default, fixes only what needs fixing, and tells you how much it changed.

The second draft is where you start listening. You read it back and ask what you were really trying to say.

Yours 90%

You can see what AI touched.

Words the AI wrote stay marked. Turn on Show AI edits and they light up in blue, so you always know which words are yours.

Every language is a first language.

Chinese and Japanese are counted by character, English and Spanish by word. Mixed scripts get proper spacing and punctuation. Blue Pencil’s prompts are written in each language, not translated from English.

Your words leave with you.

On every plan, export everything whenever you like: Markdown, Word, PDF, HTML, or WeChat-ready formatting.

Every button has to answer one question:
is it worth a writer’s attention?
Most don’t make it.

Who it’s for

For anyone who signs their name at the end.

Editors and journalists. Newsletter writers. Founders writing launch posts and letters to investors. Students with a thesis due. And everyone who writes in two languages at once.

A note

AIWritingPal is made by a small independent team, and has been since 2023. If anything on this page could be written better, tell us, and we’ll fix it with a blue pencil.
